Crock Pot Dinners: A Perfect Recipe For The Family On The Go
Families are busy. That's a worn out understatement. If your family is anything like mine, you're going from morning until bedtime trying to get everything done on your list of 'to do's.' Kids have tons of activities to get to in the evening and parents still have to get everyone fed at some point in the midst of all of the comings and goings. But who wants to come home and cook a meal every night? Not me, but I also don't want to eat convenience food all of the time either. So what do you do? There is a perfect alternative to cooking on the fly for a family on the go; get out your crock pot and let it do most of the work for you.
Slow cookers are the perfect alternative for busy folks who still want to create great tasting food. Getting your evening meal ready in the morning usually takes about five or ten minutes. Make sure your meat is thawed and use pre-cut veggies and you're ready to go. When you come home your meal is waiting for you to enjoy. Depending on the crock pot recipe you use, you may only have to prepare a side dish to go along with your main meat dish. If you want to fix it all in one pot, then select a one pot crock pot recipe such as beef stew or chicken and noodles. On those extra busy evenings when family members are coming in at different times, a one pot dinner allows everyone to dish out their food while it stays hot in the crock pot; no need to reheat or keep the oven on for hours.
The evolution of the crock pot recipe has come a long way, and now days there are many delicious slow cooker recipes that you can select that even little picky eaters will eat without fussing. A favorite comfort meal that is perfect for the crock pot is potato soup. Add some cheese and a crusty warm loaf of bread and your family will ask for this soup over and over again.
